CLOSING CEREMONY

Block Eight:

A Sweet Goodbye – Closing Night Award Ceremony

Hosted by Elaine Wilgus of Webster’s Bookstore Cafe, The Youth Jury presents Gratitude Awards to each film, announces the Audience Award winner, and the winners of the High School Shorts Competition. Students from the Masterclass will present their work, and local artists will perform with high school students.

Sunday, November 10, 5:00pm-7:00pm

Natascha & The Spy Boys

From State College, Natascha & The Spy Boys play an eclectic mix of blues, jazz, soul & swing, their style often evoking the smoky atmosphere of a 1920s speakeasy.

Jon Phillippi of Second Chance

Philipsburg’s own Second Chance plays covers of the classics such as CCR, The Eagles, Elvis, and many more during our concerts. We are Scott Conklin on vocals, Jon Phillippi on Lead Guitar, Bob Reams on Bass, Ron Flango on Drums, Chuck Navasky on Keyboard/Piano, and Alayna Ferdarko on Rhythm Guitar.

The Vinyl Stripes

Local Central Pennsylvania teenage rock group, The Vinyl Stripes, plays everything from the feel-good songs of Creedence Clearwater Revival to the rocking music of Neil Young and Green Day with a few originals of their own. Nathan McDermott on Lead Guitar, Dayton Barger on Bass Guitar/Backing Vocals, Avery Miller on Drums, and Jason Stanko on Vocals/Piano.

Youth Jury Awards

The Youth Jury was selected from local high schools. High school students had the opportunity to watch all the films with university film students and determine which receive Gratitude Awards and which of our high school filmmakers win the Grand and First Prizes. This program is made possible with the support of Donald P. Bellisario College of Communication, the YMCA of Moshannon Valley, and the Galaxy program.
