Pablo Lopez | SUMMER NIGHTS

A feel-good cinematic album about love, acceptance, and friendship. Eight friends reunite on the last few days of a summer festival.

Jeremy Feight | BEANIE

Beanie, a Pennsylvania grandma, passes down her legacy of freedom and self expression to her queer, big-dreaming grandson, Jeremy.

Sam Rudy | RUMSPRINGA

A new play by Sam Rudy about a rural theater company preparing to stage its first-ever world-premiere play, and the leading lady who wonders if this will be her final bow.

How it will work:

This event is an opportunity for writers to take their scripts to the next level. The selected scripts will be brought to life by local actors, offering the unique chance to witness words coming to life on stage for the very first time. Our live audience will be there to offer immediate feedback and insights, helping the writer’s fine-tune their script for the screen.

We aim to provide a space where fellow writers, filmmakers, and enthusiasts can share their experiences, gain inspiration, and form valuable connections within the local film community.

Whichever first-act most compels the judges to keep reading will receive the first ever Made In PA award to be used for research, development, and production purposes anywhere in Pennsylvania so they can finish they’re films.

More about our three selected first acts below:

Summer Nights By Pablo Lopez

Summer Nights is a feel-good cinematic album about love, acceptance, and friendship. We find 8 friends together on the last few days of a summer festival reuniting them. Their friendships get messy however when Genevieve suspects her beloved Franklin of cheating. This forms a rift creating a frenzy within the friend group. All of this right before Franklin unveils his greatest masterpiece at the Summer Nights Festival.

At the same time Destiny has made it back into town, to the surprise of Kevin who still has some unanswered questions about why she left initially. It doesn’t take long before Destiny and Kevin bump into each other, and sparks start to fly once again bringing them back to where it all started.

We follow the group navigating love, passion, and friendships through those Summer nights, as they support Eric, Rocco, and Carson who are battling it out on stage for the Summer Nights Battle of The Bands.

Beanie By Jeremy Feight

Across the course of three generations, Beanie follows the dreams of freedom and self expression as they are passed down from a Pennsylvanian grandma, Beanie, to her queer, big-dreaming grandson, Jeremy. When it becomes clear that they only way to protect his sparkle is to break some rules to find the coveted TY Lobster, Beanie accepts the challenge to unearth her own unfulfilled California fantasies and unprocessed traumas as they venture across Central PA in pursuit of the bean-filled crustation.

Beanie is an irreverent romp through a family that doesn’t get much airtime on the media — but in many ways, is the heartbeat of our national conversations around family values, racial and gender privileges, and the role of parents in forming our self-identity and esteem.

Rumspringa By Sam Rudy

Rumspringa, a new play by Sam Rudy about a rural theater company preparing to stage its first-ever world-premiere play, and the leading lady who wonders if this will be her final bow.

We believe that Central Pennsylvania is rich with screen-worthy stories and the talent to bring them to life.
