“We all play a part!”
The Centre Film Festival brings people and voices from all over the world to central Pennsylvania. This year the poster is a game of memory with images representing so much of what we love in our community and county.
Every year a student from Penn State conceives of the idea and works on the design. Shalini Prasath (PSU ’24) listed elements in the area that speak to her, and Sophia Alexander, a recent Penn State Graduate, translated her idea into the current poster design while using inspiration by wood-cut stamps and nostalgic memory games. The twist of this memory game is that the “opposites” visually match each other. What unifies all of these different cards together is their connection to Pennsylvania.
“This year’s poster design is a visual representation of our pride and our mission, and I’m thrilled that we get to share it with everyone” said Sophia Alexander, our lead graphic designer.
About The Poster Designers
Sophia Alexander is the Lead Graphic Designer for the Centre Film Festival. While leading her design team, she created CFF’s 2024 style, social media posts, animations, advertising, and merchandise designs. A graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Graphic Design, Sophia values the experience and challenges that come with every new project. Other hobbies include crochet, poetry, and nature photography.
Shalini Prasath is a junior studying Graphic Design at Penn State University. She was born and raised on the Philadelphia Main Line to an Indian-Tamil family. Her Tamil culture fostered her love for cinema, as she grew up celebrating Tamil actors and their movie releases. This appreciation led her to the arts, where she now has hobbies in photography, video editing, design, dance, and music.
Shalini is interested in filmmaking, with a dream of one day working in film production herself. She is thrilled to be a part of the design team for this year’s Centre Film Festival.
